Denalene Tiu is a third-year medical student at the University of California, San Francisco in the San Joaquin Valley PRIME Track. Prior to medical school, she received a BS degree in Human Biology and an MS degree in Biology at the University of California, San Diego. Denalene is passionate about addressing vascular health inequities in underserved communities. She is the California Central Valley medical student lead of the Comprehensive Heart and Multidisciplinary Limb Preservation Outreach Network (CHAMPIONS), where she organizes several cardiovascular health screening events a year. Moreover, she is the co-founder of the non-profit organization Primetime, where she aims to address the physician shortage in the San Joaquin Valley by mentoring underrepresented pre-medical students from the region.
