Dr. Aarabi is a vascular surgeon interested in care of underserved populations as well as novel therapeutics for the care of critically ill patients in limited resource settings. His current research is focused device development and large animal testing in two areas: 1. limiting ischemic damage in traumatic limb injuries and 2. ultrasound monitoring of critically ill patients.
Dr. Aarabi received his Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics and Philosophy with Honors at the University of California at Berkeley, his Medical Degree from New York University, and a Master's in Public Health at Harvard University. He completed general surgery training as well as fellowships in trauma critical care and vascular surgery at the University of Washington.
He is currently an Associate Professor of Surgery at the University of California at San Francisco, with his primary practice site at Alameda Health System, a large county hospital system in the San Francisco East Bay where he is Chief of Vascular Surgery.
