Catherine Hite is a familiy nurse practitioner specializing in vascular and cardiac surgery with special interest in aortic aneurysms and valve disease. She completed her Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Fordham University in New York in 2012 and quickly came to her senses and pursued a career in healthcare. She received a Bachelor of Nursing degree and Masters of Science degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC where she worked both at the bedside as a registered nurse and later in the outpatient setting as a nurse practitioner in general surgery. During that time, she was the recipient of the Sydney and Helen Shuman National Nurse Recognition Award as well as the National Capital Area Cardiac Surgery Nursing Award. She moved from Washinton to Charlottesville, VA in 2018 where she has since worked as a nurse practitioner for both vascular and cardiac surgery at the Unviersity of Virginia Medical Center. Last year, she was awarded the 2024 APP Award for Interprofessional Collaboration for her work developing a joint surgery and interventional cardiology clinic. In her spare time, she enjoys distance running and is lloking forward to running the Boston Marathon in 2026.
