Dr. Frank M. Davis is an Assistant Professor at the University of Michigan Department of Surgery and Section Chief of Vascular Surgery at the Ann Arbor VA Medical Center. Dr. Davis has clinical specialization in the surgical and endovascular management of aortic aneurysms, aorto-Iliac occlusive disease, cerebral vascular disease, and peripheral arterial disease. In addition to his clinical activity, he also leads a translational scientific laboratory that investigates the pathological mechanisms that drive abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) development. The Davis lab is interested in understanding the role of immune cell infiltration and vascular smooth muscle cell dysfunction within the arterial wall during pathological aortic dilation. His team of scientists explores AAA development using a complement of biochemical assays, in vivo animal models, and biobank of vascular tissue specimens. The vascular clinical team translates their findings from bench-to-bedside through ongoing clinical research trials. Ultimately, the longterm goal of the Davis lab is to develop new therapeutic modalities for the treatment of patients with aortic aneurysmal disease.
