Nobuyoshi Azuma is a vascular surgeon, researching revascularization strategy for ischemic limb as well as outcomes after revascularization such as ulcer healing and daily activity. He is principle investigator of SPINACH registry, a multicenter prospective clinical study that was the first to use the WIfI classification, and suggested revascularization options based on patient risk and wound severity. Nobuyoshi Azuma was former Council member of World Federation of Vascular Surgery, and one of authors of Global Vascular Guidelines 2019 and IWGDF PAD Guidelines 2023. Nobuyoshi Azuma is now a chief director of Japanese Society for Vascular Surgery and is working to raise public awareness of PAD. He also has committed to the dissemination and standardization of distal bypass surgical techniques, taking place the international distal bypass competitions and workshops.
