Abena Appah-Sampong, MD (she/her/hers)

Abena is a general surgery resident at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and research fellow at the Center for Surgery and Public Health. She is currently serving as a VESELab fellow under the guidance of Dr. Mohamad Hussain and Dr. Behnood Bikdeli. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Chicago and medical degree from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine. Her research interests lie at the intersection of data science, structural inequity, and health policy. Her research focuses on racial/ethnic disparities in vascular surgery outcomes and the devlopment of machine learning tools to improve the diagnosis of PAD in administrative databases.
