Emmanuel Ebirim, MS3 is a third-year medical student at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), deeply committed to advancing medicine through the intersecting avenues of policy, innovation, research, and service. Born in Nigeria and raised in Houston, Texas, his lived experiences inform a profound dedication to addressing systemic healthcare disparities and promoting access, literacy, and equity for underserved populations.
At UTMB, he serves as the Student Body President, President of the Texas Medical Association (TMA) student chapter, Delegate Chair of the TMA Medical Student Section, and a voting delegate to the American Medical Association (AMA). In these leadership roles, Emmanuel has authored, championed, and helped pass impactful healthcare policy resolutions aimed at expanding equitable coverage and access to care.
His advocacy extends beyond policy and into the community, where he has organized preventive health screenings, philanthropic initiatives, and educational outreach events. He recently self-produced Soaring Mission: Peripheral Arterial Disease in the Black Community, a medical documentary and public health call to action spotlighting racial disparities in vascular care.
Emmanuel was recently appointed Medical Student Liaison to the American College of Surgeons, where he continues to pursue bold, evidence-based strategies for transforming surgical care through an equity lens. His work reflects an unwavering commitment to uplifting marginalized voices and catalyzing lasting change in medicine.
