Dr. Kauvar received his MD from the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USUHS) in 2002. He trained in General Surgery at Brooke Army Medical Center and completed a research fellowship at the US Army Institute of Surgical Research (USAISR). His vascular surgery training was completed at the University of Utah. In his 24-year military career, he served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan and as an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery at the Uniformed Services University. He is now a Clinical Professor in the Division of Vascular Surgery at the Stanford University School of Medicine. His academic interests are in the areas of vascular trauma and functional outcomes following vascular intervention.
