Dr. Sherene Shalhub is the Division Head of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery and the John Porter M.D. Endowed Professor in Vascular Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU). She also serves as the Vice Chair for Regional Strategy and Surgical Operations and Co-Director of the OHSU Heart and Vascular Service Line. Additionally, Dr. Shalhub is the Executive Director of the Northwest Genetic Aortopathy & Arteriopathy Program (NW GAAP) and Associate Director of the Knight Cardiovascular Institute at OHSU.
Dr. Shalhub’s clinical expertise focuses on the management of aortic and arterial disorders, with a particular emphasis on genetic vascular conditions such as vascular Ehlers-Danlos, Marfan, and Loeys-Dietz syndromes. Her research focuses on the natural history, clinical management, patient engagement, and outcomes of patients with aortic and rare vascular disorders. She has contributed to the literature through peer-reviewed publications and presented her findings at national and international meetings, with a focus on translating research insights into improved patient care and long-term management strategies.
Dr. Shalhub earned her medical degree and MPH from the University of South Florida, followed by a general surgery residency and vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Washington. She is board-certified in vascular surgery and has held numerous leadership positions in professional organizations. Dr. Shalhub remains committed to advancing clinical excellence through evidence-based care, fostering the education of future vascular surgeons, and contributing to research that enhances outcomes in vascular disease, while building collaborative, multidisciplinary networks to improve patient care.
