Dr. Toursavadkohi earned his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences. He completed his general surgery residency at Henry Ford Hospital and pursued a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Maryland, where he subsequently joined the faculty.
His clinical and research expertise centers on the surgical management of aortic and thoracoabdominal aneurysms and dissections. In 2016, he launched the Vascular Acute Case Surgery (VACS) program, the first of its kind in the nation, offering 24/7 coverage for vascular emergencies. Collaborating closely with the cardiac surgery team, Dr. Toursavadkohi established the Center for Aortic Disease, a comprehensive and regionally recognized program that addresses the most complex aortic pathologies using cutting-edge endovascular and hybrid techniques.
At UMMC, Dr. Toursavadkohi pioneered the integration of fenestrated and branched endovascular repair for aortic arch, thoracoabdominal, and juxtarenal aortic aneurysms and dissections. His work has positioned UMMC as one of the few centers in the country utilizing advanced endovascular technology to treat aortic diseases from the aortic valve to the iliac arteries.
