Nicolas J. Mouawad, MD, MPH, MBA, DFSVS, FRCS, FACS, RPVI is board certified in general and vascular surgery. He is Chief of Vascular & Endovascular Surgery and Chair of the Department of Surgery at McLaren Health System in Bay City, MI. He specializes in advanced surgical vascular care, aortic pathologies, carotid revascularization, expanded endovascular therapies, CLTI/PAD and venous disorders including VTE, DVT/PE.
Dr. Mouawad earned his medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and completed a general surgery residency in Ann Arbor, MI. He then completed a vascular surgery fellowship at The Ohio State University. He has a long focus as a healthcare services professional with an MBA focused on healthcare management and customer relationship management as well as an MPH focusing on Health Policy & Management and Health Education & Promotion. He also completed the Leadership Program for Health Policy and Management at The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, Waltham, MA.
An active clinical researcher, Dr. Mouawad is Chair of the Cardiovascular Research for the McLaren Health System. He is principal investigator of multiple health system related trials and has presented at over 200 international and national symposia. He also serves on the Editorial Board of Journal of Vascular Surgery, Annals of Vascular Surgery and Frontiers in Vascular Surgery, and serves as Associate Editor for Annals in Vascular Surgery and Journal of Endovascualr Therapy.
