Moderator/Senior Discussant FAQS
- The primary role of the moderator is to keep the speakers on schedule and announce each abstract by title and presenting author and/or introduce the session.
- Please use the timer on your cell phone to monitor time, the speaker will have a countdown timer next to the confidence monitor to reference as well.
- A speaker timer is provided in the front of the room and AV will put the time up for the speaker to follow.
- Faculty is instructed to bring their PPT presentation (on a USB drive) to the Speaker Ready Room at Morial CC, Second Floor, Room 231-232 the day before or 4 hours prior to their session or they can upload via the online Speaker Ready Room site (link provided in the Faculty Portal).
- The audio/visual company will have the online Speaker Ready Room loaded onto session computers for speakers to select their name to pull up their slides.
- Presentations will not be accepted in the session room.
- All faculty are instructed to be in the room at least 15 minutes prior to their session. Please meet with your speakers at the front of the room before the start of the session.
- Staff and AV will be in each room to assist should you have any questions.
- Senior Author Discussants: if the author presenting the paper is a medical student or trainee, a Senior Author Discussant will be identified and be present at the podium during the presentation to answer questions on the abstract. There will be a chair near the podium for the Senior Author Discussant to sit and they should come up at the beginning of the abstract presentation and switch spots on the podium at the Q&A portion.
